I can’t imagine spending $1 million on a car, but if I were going to, I’d be thinking McClaren F1, not the Veyron.
The Bugatti folks had a shape, that was relatively pretty, but not very aerodynamic. The engineers were told it had to go 250mph. That meant lots of power, given the aerodynamics. So, it’s got something like 12 radiators (1000 hp is a lot of heat), and will run something like 50 miles at top speed before it burns through its entire tank. Kind of like a man-made diamond. With enough engineering effort, and enough energy expended, you can do just about anything.
The fact that it has all of 309 miles on it says a lot. The folks that bought these, bought them for status, not to drive. I’d bet it was a trader, either option or commodity, that bought it. Market’s moving against him, so now it’s time to sell it.
