They'll make a small profit from it, because it will be sold in small numbers, because of the 25% tariff. The only way the truck will flop is they try to sell in large numbers.
Marketing people are certainly among the most worthless groups of humanity. They can't even find a name for the thing? What the hell do they do all day? Steal old ideas or come up with the lamest crap for ads that does nothing but annoy consumers (and causing a personal boycott of said product) it seems to me. Even the slight creativity of a name is too hard for them.
> Why this and not the sport wagon? I just don’t get it.
Because the 20 something who wants a sportscar, but can't afford the insurance, also likes to haul his sports equipment, and because trucks count differently on the CAFE rating. It makes more sense that most of the short bed pickups out there.
Personally I'd got for the sportswagon, but then most americans that buy wagons want to be 20 feet in the air for the delusion of safety.
I think it will do will if it is marketed like the F150 Lightning, as a sportcar truck, unless the dollar keeps sinking and GM isn't able to move production to the US in time.
Reading the rules it says "Selection/Determination of winner will NOT be based on Vehicle Name submitted". How can you have a name the vehicle contest and not consider the name?
So that means like if someone submitted Pontiac Cheese and it was randomly picked, it would win? I don't see any sense in the way they are running the contest
I'm from australia where this car is built, and it is sold as the Holden Ute. and it sells very well. As for economy. its gotta be more fuel efficient than those hummers, and massive f series trucks. for the category its put in. its more efficient than its compeditors for most jobs.

How about "El Camino"? Since this is such an original idea might as well stick with the theme and give it an original name too.
