eBay Auction of the Day: The Right to Buy a 2008 Dodge Challenger
Well, the Dodge Challenger mark-up insanity has officially begun. A mere two days after the ordering banks opened for Dodge’s white-hot muscle car, a Texas-based dealer has successfully sold the rights to buy one of the 4,500 first-year cars for the tidy sum of $18,990.
The really amazing part is that the $19K wasn’t the result of a hot and heavy round of eBaying, it was the “buy it now

There is no way that car is worth close to $60,000. That's like a base Corvette and a Nissan Versa for the price of a Dodge.
Especially since it comes with an auto and a Dodge interior.

the car was sold for 19k ...... that is a great price for a 425 hp car, even though it has the louzy 5 auto. i should've known about it.

Not quite, that 19k was only the rights to buy the car. Essentially the dealer markup. The high bidder still needs to pay for the car once it arrives at the dealership.

It's not as bad at that $400,000+ some idiot spent on the rights to buy the first GT500 at Barrett-Jackson. This is just plain dumb instead of insanely stupid.

Is it a coincidence that the initials of the Barrett-Jackson auction are "B-J?"

Anyone know where that photo was taken? Just curiosity.

ooohhhh now I get it, damn this is a rip off, what an idiot, the car even isn't worth it.

I agree, Chrysler blew this introduction. I hope no one buys any of them.

People will be lined up around the block to get this car. $19K to get in on the first one's IS a rip off but the people plunking down the cash don't think so. For $60K, I'd rather get a sand car.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't get what the big deal is with this car. I don't find it attractive. I understand the focus are the baby boomers who loved the bloated cars of 70s, but this thing is just an ugly pig.

Yeah, it's just you.
