‘08 Geneva: Maserati GranTurismo S

Unlike Jaguar’s XKR-S, we’re happy to report that Maserati’s “S-model” - the GranTurismo S, revealed this week at the Geneva Motor Show - actually sports a boost in power. Quanto meraviglioso…

Although the curvaceous GranTurismo has a few trim tweaks here and there (notably a new leather interior and smoked alloys), Maserati did tweak the car by adding the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione’s 440-horsepower 4.7-liter V-8, in lieu of the standard engine. Also thrown in is a high-performance Brembo brake system, sporting aluminum front discs and six-piston calipers up front.

Although Jaguar’s new cat certainly looks the part, it doesn’t blend power and panache like the GranTurismo does. We can’t wait to get our hands on one of these for a quick (or long) spin…

I’d say the devil is in the details. With a long wheelbase and real rear seat, this car is larger and more sedan like. Still, I saw one Monday at the Ferrari-Maserati store in Manhattan and thought it looked superb.

Exterior tweaks be dammed, 4.7 litres, baby! Much better than the the Jaguar XKR-S. I think this is a logical extension of the 8C’s engine.

metal air intakes..unpainted, or non baked paint, and plastic intakes. I guess it boils down to something nasa would use..and baked on high temp nonconductive, or one way giveaway conductive something or other. titanium high grade something…baked paint or stiff enough plastic. smooth in ribbed out.
