Spy Shots: Is Hummer Working on an H2T?
Glenn Paulina and the crew at KGP think this mule shows a stretched H2 SUT, which is certainly possible.
However, with an H3T in the pipeline, Hummer could be thinking of ditching the H2 SUT and replacing it with an actual H2 truck. This mule appears to have a bed in the five to six-foot range, which is much larger than the 35-inch bed found on the current SUT. No official word has been released on the length of the H3T’s bed, but since the H3T is billed as a truck, not an SUT, we except something similar to the Canyon/Colorado bed length.
(Click through for more speculation on this mule.)
Glenn Paulina thinks this H2T/ SUT could also indicate a move to the new GMT900 platform and a stretched H2 SUV. The H2 is still riding on a modified GMT820 platform since so many changes were made to fit the needs of the Hummer brand. It would make sense to add this new model at the same time the platform changes to minimize the costs of adding a new model.
Most reports indicate that Hummer will only be moving down in size in the coming years, but this mule could indicate otherwise. What do you think? Is there room for a slightly larger H2 and H2T now that the H1 is extinct? Or should Hummer continue to scale down future models? Let us know in comments.
Judging by this prototype caught under test, it looks like the Hummer H2 SUT is on the verge of a growth spurt. This H2 SUT tester-- parading around in what appears to be a faux army paint scheme (complete with star)--has clearly been lengthened behind the rear doors. It appears that a good 12-inches has been added--both fore and aft of the rear wheel--resulting in a significant increase in hauling capacity over the compromised bed of the current H2 SUT.
We would guess that this new, longer H2 is making use of the stretched GMT 900 platform used on the Suburban instead of the H2's normal Tahoe-based package. The strategy was probably deemed necessary to properly differentiate the H2 SUT from the upcoming H3 SUT, which sports a similarly stretched bed when compared to its SUV counterpart. If the H2 SUT has ever made any sense, it's relevance would be severely challenged if the smaller H3 pickup actually trumped the H2 in functionality. The General is now in the process of rectifying this shortcoming. One now wonders if this lengthened treatment will also be applied to the H2 SUV.

Eww. That thing is buttugly. It totally distorts the nice proportions of the H2 SUT, which I think is actually the best looking Hummer out there. This is a hugely unattractive truck.

I don't think this is an H2T I think this is the new humvee(or for civilians the H1) in testing.

Oh and just for the record that thing is DOWNRIGHT UGLY.

I am a farmer who uses the H2SUT. It is an awesome
vehicle.
I would like a longer bed, and a frame front and rear to extend the roof top bars for hauling long pipes and lumber. I use the 3/4 ton truck rating. (2200 lbs)
Oh, since I drive in the mountains, a hydraulic support for the opening and closing of the doors would be nice. When on a side slope, those doors opening or closing can hurt you!!
A hybrid, with a lithium battery pack would be nice.
It could be diesel/biodiesel or alchohol/flex fuel.
It would be nice if HUMMER would spend more effort on describing the safety of this vehicle. Being surrounded by 3 roll bars makes me feel safe!!
btw, I have had one accident. A Prius backed into me at Jack in the Box!! He sure was embarrassed. lol, no damage to me - zero.
I hope someone at AM General finally reads one of my comments and replies.

Nice touch. Sunroof could double as machine gun turret.
