Hydrogen-Power to the People
Will Ferrell might be getting the keys to the H7, but he won’t be the only Californian who’s comped a hydrogen-powered vehicle.
Starting this month, GM will be looking for drivers in California, New York, and Washington D.C. to sample a slice of the future in fuel-cell versions of its Chevy Equinox.
100 examples of the SUV will be provided to testers at virtually no cost as part of GM’s Project Driveway program, in what figures to be the largest real world test of fuel cell vehicles.
In geographic areas picked for there proximity to hydrogen fueling stations, the program will give owners the chance to live with the realities of a fuel cell SUV. Providing economy equivalent to 50 mpg on gasoline the green Equinox should have a useful range of about 200 miles, comply with government safety standards, and produce water vapor as its only emission.
Potential hydrogen guinea pigs should check out Chevy’s website for further info.

This is great. I'm glad to see it!

Can you say boondogle. H2 is not the solution. Neither is Ethanol. H2 is backed by the Oil lobby and Ethanol by the Farm lobby. The only true solution is electric. Solar on the roof of the house and plugged in to the car.
CHARLES G.
Solar/electric is your solution??? See "muscle car" above.

"The only true solution is electric."
That's about as educated as your "HHR SS" post. I guess hearing electric isn't anymore annoying than hearing diesel.
Let me ask you something, bil: how can the United States support five or six million EVs when it has trouble with its energy grid as it is? Let's use common sense: if the electric car were to take off, you'd see more demand--and higher prices for electricity.
I don't know if hydrogen is the fuel source for the future, but if it means pissing off diesel and electric whiners to keep promoting these things--let them come!

well... if the only true solution is electric, then this car is part of the solution. a fuel cell car is just an electric car with a hydrogen fuel cell for a battery, which means that you dont have to wait hours to recharge it...

Forget the grid. Buy your own solar, put on your own house, power your own car and house. Get off the grid! Don't support the electric companies, oil companies or corn farmers. Radical results requires radical change. This country was formed by independent, fronteer thinking. WAKE UP! The herd will not lead you to independence. H2 is the oil lobby's next industry. Ethanol is corn lobby's next industry. Notice how both of these have well funded ad campaigns? The answer to our energy needs is not on a cable news channel.

Ducati,
I did not make any "HHR SS" comments. But let me be clear they SUCK!

Whoops! That was "B." I'm growing senile in my twenties!
(I still disagree with you on the HHR.)
