Audi Adds Diesel Engine to its Q7 SUV
Good news today for those of us who had been considering Audi’s impressively large Q7 SUV, but were just a tad worried about the attendant gas bill.
The German automaker has announced that it will be expanding the available engine range for the Q7 by exactly one.

An updated version of Audi’s 3-liter V-6 TDI is now on tap for the well-appointed SUV, featuring upgrades in fuel efficiency, power, and torque over the last version of the engine. The new mill is rated for a dieselriffic 405 pound-feet of torque along with 240 horsepower. The diesel Q7 can also claim a not insignificant 24 mpg on a combined cycle.
These gains in power and efficiency come with improvements made to the fuel injection system, utilizing-high pressure piezo injectors. This new system helps spread the V-6’s ample twist over a broad rev range, aiding the big ute in achieving a 8.5 second 0-62 time.

Now, when do we get a diesels across the lineup?

Bump up that horsepower. 0-60 in eight and a half seconds in nothing to gloat about. Our lovely oversized Escalade hits it in two seconds less. Poor acceleration was a problem with the Liberty CRD, as I recall. MotorWeek recorded 24 mpg combined, but a 0-60 time of 9.5 sec. in spite of 295 ft.-lbs. being pushed out onto the wheels. Torque doesn't solve everything. MW's latest review, for the Grand Cherokee CRD, averages 20 mpg overall with a 0-60 time of eight seconds flat with 376 ft.-lbs.

Lower the weight to improve 0-60 times. And who really does 0-60 runs anyway. Part throttle 15-40 and the like are more realistic. That's where torque is good.

Is that shot photoshopped?

Apparently, quite a few.
