Tokyo Motor Show: 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI
You’ve already seen live shots of the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, so it’s only fair to put up the live shots of the WRX STI right away to prevent any Subie fans from claiming we have a favorite.
There were tons and tons of sneak previews of the 2008 WRX STI, but nothing compares to seeing the new car in the flesh. It doesn’t quite look breathtaking in silver, but we think a black car trimmed out with gold rims and some aftermarket taillights could look pretty sweet.

*Sigh* Yup, still barely makes it past bland into ugly. Maybe it'd look good as a 3 door hatch or as a sedan, but I see that and think "Ford Focus hatchback." Not exactly a comparison that evokes driving excitement. Really too bad, because while the old one wasn't necessarily everybody's cup of tea, it at least had a distinctive look that was all its own.

I wish the floor models would have been all flat and black like the preview images.

The final test.........which one sells better!

Wait, does that say it's a 2.0l? Is that a misprint?

The '08 Impreza in fine with me. That won't change me from being a Lancer guy.

Wow. This only looks better than the old one. It's still ugly as all hell, but it's not quite as bad as the old one. How anyone could bear to look at this thing in their garage is a mystery to me. Those design guys at Subaru must do some hard drugs to think this thing looks good.

I've been staring and staring and staring at any pics I can get trying to get used to it and I still hate the look. This makes the 2006/2007 look great by comparison.

Yeah, I think it would have looked better in black with those gold rims. But then again, almost everything looks better in black with gold rims.
I'm just hoping for the best, and that these shots are just not the most flattering ones for the STi. I've always liked the STi Imprezas, and the teaser shots were pretty promising, so I'm hoping that we can see different shots of the car in different colors in the near future.

Will,I dont think the design team at subaru is intrested in the look.
They made this new model to improve the car perfomance in the world rally.
I realy do trust these pepole and I know for sure they dont do any thing just for the "look".
And yes its a 2.0l but the 2.5l is in the way"i hope"
I'm driving a 2004 2.0 sti w/motec susb.and front mount intercooler.
And even before that the stock is a really awsome car.
Maybe you dont like it,but any one loves the awd car's
will agree with me.
