‘08 NAIAS: Subaru’s 2009 Forester Emerges From The Woods
After seeing photos of the Japanese market 2009 Forester, Subaru unveiled the North American-spec crossover today at the Detroit auto show.
Forester stylists have seemingly adopted the design ethic from Toyota's Highlander - the shape is still recognizable as a Forester, although it's been "bulked" up. The new 'ute is only around three inches longer than the previous Forester, but it looks considerably larger, thanks in part to bolder fender flares and a higher stance (ground clearance checks in at 8").

Much of the interior - especially the instrument panel - echoes current Impreza. The example we looked over was decked with the high-end L.L. Bean trim, which may help to explain the extremely soft (faux?) suede on the inner door panels. Still, overall fit-and-finish, both inside and out, looked well-done.
Since the launch of the Tribeca was marred by its styling, we're wondering what you think of the Forester's new clothes. Feed us your thoughts in the comments section below.

It will be on my shortlist of small SUV's when we look to buy this year. I just wished Subie's got better MPG's or had diesels. I won't but hybrids.

Yeah, when's that diesel they're releasing in Europe this year coming to the US?
