The Last of the Luxury GTs?

You don’t really need a Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG, or a Bentley Continental GT, just as you don’t need a Savile Row blazer, a Picasso painting, or membership at Augusta National.

But any or all of these could make your life more satisfying, and that, as opposed to impressive acceleration figures or high-end skid pad numbers, is what the Mercedes, the Bentley, and a few other cars of this genre are about.

What would cause these cars to go away? At this price point, the manufacturers would simply make the cars meet the new standards (if passed) and charge more money for the new process. And the customers would continue to keep buying them. These aren’t Camry’s, where Toyota HAS to make them affordable to the average Joe.

I agree; this is probably just exaggeration. There could be a decline in these premium-market GTs, however, as lower-priced ones approach their numbers.
