One is already in garages, the other is ready to be garaged. Neither has a direct competitor, but they come closest to one another. Tough choice.

I'm going to slam WR on this. Let's face it: this comparo had no validity in the market. The 335i is the G37's prime target. This was done for the sake of finding two sporty cars to roll around in and take up space. The comparo also in the typical way of "This car is for you if you like this, and this car is for you if you like that."

C'mon guys.

Reilly

Sounds reasonable given the price proximity, which I didn't know until I saw this. I think validity in the market is actually leveraged to price, not size.

Infiniti positioned the G37 to do battle with the 335i but offered more value by pricing it LOWER than the 335i. Infiniti didn't position the G37 as a competitor to the 135i or the 328i. It seems that none of the mags will acknowledge that BMW's 335i actually has credible competition.

Mark

At the end of the day, the 1 series is still an awkward looking at best, butt ugly at worst, car that is smaller, priced higher, and cheaper looking inside and out than the Infiniti. Is the BMW badge worth all the compromises? The answer is yes to many people for reasons that escape logic.

Reilly,

Would you compare a Dodge Challenger SRT-8 to a BMW 335i? Or a base Porsche 911 to a Chevy Corvette Z06? Same price.

I meant to say the comparo ended without a clear winner; just a compromised conclusion. I was using a sluggish work keyboard.

Duc Min,

The reality is that people compare on price more than they do on segment. I agree that logic starts people in the process of comparing within segment, but when the rubber meets the road price is the ultimate playing field. To your point, I'd love to see a Dodge Challenger v 335i comparison! Or the Porsche v Vette!

Rex

I don't think this such a bad comparison. As the 1-series has been said to be within inch/weight of the 3-series. So comparing to the 3's closest competitor isn't such a bad idea. And when the competitor the G37 comes in at a similar price point as the 1-series let the battle begin.
