Very nice! I would’ve liked to see some interior shots though. And what are the powerplants available?
Thanks to the efforts of several trigger-happy web writers the visage of Hyundai’s sensational new Genesis Coupe is now at our disposal. Though we won’t have all of the new car’s specifications and other details until Hyundai officially pulls the wraps off the car at next week’s New York Auto Show, we can certainly get a nice long look in.
The production version of the coupe is slightly tamer than the blaze-orange concept that was shown at last year’s L.A. show, but it still looks like an awfully convincing sports car. We’re guessing that the Genesis coupe’s looks will garner some rave reviews that its sedan stable-mate has missed out on.
Sort through our gallery of Genesis Coupe images below, and give us your opinion of the car in comments. Don’t forget to check back next week when we’ll bring you live coverage from NYC.

weird, very weird design. not bad though.
the tank is empty …. is hyundai actin’ cheap in here ![]()
@ mena, i guess only V6 and I4 powerplants are gonna be available… i remember i read once that no V8 is gonna be available, which is …. sad ![]()
Gotta say, interior pics are greatly needed before I can make any assumptions, here. However, the exterior is looking great, much snazzier than the Mustang. We’ll see if Hyundai decided to put better-than-Mustang performance in it, as well. The exterior is certainly a winner, though!
according to earlier WR stories, the sedan will have a V8 option. Why would the sedan be available in a V8 but not the coup? That makes zero sense.
Soupie,
It probably just has problems fitting in the engine bay.
As for my opinion, somehow, I think the car looked better when I saw the pics in the auto shows. Here, the shape just seems to harken back to the Tiberon, which I never quite had a high opinion of.
V8 too heavy and poor handling.
Hyundai would be foolish to not include a V8 option on this car, particularly if it is offered on the 4-door. Hyundai has offered few missteps since the original Excel. If this car had a hi-po V8 and RWD it would be hard to beat.
@ mongo, yo’ martians will not invade earth. we all soldjaz rit here
It looks like an evolution of the Tiburon with a bit of G35 thrown into the mix. It will be interesting to see the actual specs, including weight.
I would rather have the weight under 3,000lbs than get a 2 ton car with a v8.
The lower edge of the rear side glass is below that of the front door window, a poor looking choice there. Nothing ‘expensive’ looking here.
Reminds me of the Tiburon.
This Vehicle is rumored to have a 300hp V6. More than enough for a vehicle in its class. And with America facing $4 buck a gallon gas I think this will be a better choice than the V8 that will be in the sedan.
This is a complete copy/rip-off of a G37 Coupe
It seems like Nissan designers quit and were recruited by Hyundai. Since the first spy shots, I could see the fusion between the new G37 and the Altima Coupe. But, definitely Hyundai chose something good to be inspired. Some details are odd but probably this is the brand seal of innovation. For me Hyundai has done a very good job (for the expected price). I think V-8 isn’t necessary; but a more powerful V-6 could be nice. What I said? A 300HP is enough, at least to compete with the same level competitors or perhaps some up level competitors. Performance test is in my things-to-do list. Sorry windingroad guys, but I have to say this… interior photos can be watch in motorauthority.com. Hyundai will sell at least one copy, mine.
