New York 2008: 50 Cent Loves the Pontiac Solstice Coupe

Pontiac just brought out its brand new and stirringly styled 2009 Solstice Coupe as a main feature of the lovely event they’re putting together for us.

Revealed with a two-set performance by The Young Lords still ringing in our ears, and with hip-hop star 50 Cent fawning over the new Coupe, Pontiac struck a distinctly youth oriented vibe here at the Javits Center. The rapper was obviously taken with the Coupe, repeatedly pointed to the new Solstice saying “this one here” with a rather large grin on his face.

We understand where 50 was coming from, as the Solstice Coupe was just as sexy in the sheet metal as it had appeared to be in early photos. Complete with the slick removable roof panel, this may just be the cream of the Solstice crop.

It is a shame that GM chose a worthless 2 bit murdering rapper scum to introduce this car.

Come on GM where is your class!

Is Fiddy over 6′ 1″? If so, I doubt he’ll fit in it.

The pictures make it look really sweet. Hopefully we will able to get it w/o the removable top. As a very fairskined person the ability to get a tan is very over rated. I have been waiting for a small coupe like this, had been wishing Mazda was going to do this with the Miata. It will have a stiffer chassis and will be a really nice car to take to the track!!
So now what will it be a V8 G8 or a Solstice Coupe, at least now Pontiac has some really nice things going for them.

Pontiac….LOL oh Did you REALLY understand where 50 cent was “coming from”? Because I’m pretty sure it was the bank. I can’t see 50 driving a Pontiac anywhere.

Gun slit windows…looks like a gangsta car…

This looking way better than I thought. Good One GM.

Too bad Pontiac didn’t upgrade that crappy plastic interior.I hear they’re coming out with a Solstice coupe 50 Cent Edition… Comes custom with bullet holes on the doors, red stains on the seats, and twenty pounds of cocaine in the trunk.

Heck that’s all the endorsement I need.

Wasn’t this the same clown that was on Cribs and it turned out the house and cars weren’t even his?

Donald March 19th, 2008 3:25 PM Link

I’m just waiting for the Transformers Jazz edition.

The side profile reminds me of the hardtop version photos that were floating the interwebs a year ago.

Really? I watched that wondered how even he could afford a 56k sq ft house. Figures.

Hopefully we will able to get it w/o the removable top.

Nope. Removable top only. Just leave the top up.

Hey Richard.H
Are you jealous that 50 got paid more just from GM than youll ever see in your life ?? I think the real scum is you !!! and im a white

Mena March 19th, 2008 7:17 PM Link

I can’t see 50 driving a Pontiac anywhere.

Don’t be fooled by the price. This car is mostly a second or third car (or more) not a primary vehicle for the owners. This is a disposable income car and many paid cash for them. The vast majority of owners bought it because they felt it looked better than other roadsters available. These are people that have owned (or still own) Z4’s, 911’s, Vette’s, Boxsters, and etc.

I don’t think anyone was under the illusion that they’d be hauling the soccer team and dog around in a Solstice.

CHESTER

I don’t care how much money the gangbaning rapper makes. He is just a Thug that pretends to sing. Next time the shoot the B#$%%#, they need to aim for the head. It is big enough not to be missed.

BTW All Rappers are noting but gangbanging scum!

[…] According to Windingroad.com—of all the models presented at the New York Auto Show—50 was most taken with the sleek, stylish design of the 2009 Pontiac Solstice coupe. And with its projected mid-range pricing—base models for the 2008 version cost a little under $23,000—50 could probably afford an entire fleet of the curvaceous coupes (with his check from Vitamin Water.) Perhaps even before they hit showroom floors in early 2009. (Yo, 50: what say you one-up Oprah by giving away a few of these puppies to the members of the Corporate Takeover staff? We’ll give you some time to think it over.) […]
