eBay Auction of the Day: 1971 Audi 100LS Two-Door Sedan

1971 Audi 100LS Sedan

What's the earliest Audi (not DKW, Horch, or NSU) you've laid eyes on? Chances are it's not much older than this 1971 100LS two-door sedan that's currently on eBay. Examples of these early Audis are rather rare in the United States, especially when they're in this good of shape.

This coupe, located in Arizona, is fitted with a 99-horsepower 1.8-liter I-4 and a five-speed manual. It's remarkably original, with a little more than 60,000 miles on its odometer. We'd believe that reading merely because of its condition - the seller claims the car is all original, a fact backed by the inclusion of original Audi service records. The car is also fairly well equipped, sporting bucket seats, a center console and a sliding steel sunroof.

The seller mentions the car recently was treated to a new alternator, fuel pump, exhaust, brakes, and other parts, but is now "running like a strong old clock." The car supposedly has a few cosmetic issues, but from these photos, we think it looks fabulous, and could make for an interesting alternative to a BMW 2002.

Thought you might like to see this beauty currently being offered on eBay. It is a 1970 Purple Dodge Charger. Check out eBay #250208252445.

Modern counterpoint to a 2002. Finding parts would be impossible.

I could imagine the difficulty with the Audi parts. This is not a historically appreciated car like the 2002, either. Anyone else prefer an Ur-Quattro?

Harvey, I hope you're not the seller for the Charger. Purple is never a good color, and old rear spoilers are about as fashionable as the Cleveland Browns' uniforms. Prices are falling faster than Fred Thompson's poll numbers.

Too bad no one seems interested in forking over $165,000 for it...so far. (Maybe they saw the disappointing sales at Barrett-Jackson.) I guess people would rather have a new Lambo or Porsche for the money. I would too.

The Audi 100 was garbage when it was new. Now that it's almost 40 years old, it's almost 40 year old garbage.

DOWNSHIFTER.

Is it my imagination or are the only quirky/interesting cars that are fairly clean painted in the pukiest colors? Maybe that's why they're clean and available--people were too embarassed to be seen in them.

Wilco Segond

This audi is a beautifull car, much much beter than all the american garbage.
