Edmund’s Inside Line is reporting that the Cadillac CTS Coupe concept that dropped jaws at this year’s Detroit Auto Show will begin production in June of 2009 – via the Lansing Grand River plant.

The annual production is expected to be between 15,000-20,000 units.

The production model features will be extremely similar to the concept. However, the production model will be sans center-mounted exhaust, as the standard production-friendly dual exhaust of the current CTS is likely. The 2010 production model will also feature a lip spoiler with an integrated rear brake light.

A remodeled front end is expected, featuring fewer headlight LEDs and some hood crease deductions.

The proportions of this car are a bit off, imo. I suspected it from the pictures on this site, but then saw it at the Detroit show this past weekend. It wasn’t as bad as in the pics, but the beltline seems to be too high. Also, the crease running down the side of the body ended at the back of the rear 1/4 window, leaving the C-pillar one huge flat plane of metal down though the rear 1/4 panel. It seemed kind of awkward. I guess the whole car was just typical american obnoxious-to-be-noticed and bulbous. Just my opinion. I have nothing against the CTS in general. Also, this concept car had too much chrome inside. That stuff reflects light and would be very annoying in real life. I’m sure they’d change that for the production version. It’ll probably end up being plastic, anyway.

I’ll go on to say that the new CTS-V was just rediculous. I saw it, heard the girl say that it was to have “AT LEAST 550 Horsepower”, looked at it for a minute, and moved on. This is just getting so excessive. If you really think you need that much power, you’d be better off spending your money on a penis enlargement. The car ain’t gonna do it for you.

I own a new CTS.

But this car?

Great if you like big Butts and always wanted a hatchback that cost $40K.

Honestly, I haven’t seen a butt like that since Queen Latifah fell off her diet……….

southern, just because you wash someone’s CTS doesn’t mean you own it.

I like the fact that Cadillac has stepped up in recent years and are actively pursuing new design concepts and power options for their vehicles. It was just a few years ago when you were stuck with only front wheel drive if you wanted a Cadillac. Atleast now Cadillac has cool cars that handle AND produce a lot of horsepower if you desire it, hence the V - Series. The coupe, I believe is a nice addition to a stable of already great cars. Nice progression.
