Aston Martin DBS Doing Well, Rapide Still on Track

According to a print-only report in Autocar, Aston Martin has orders for 1500 of its new DBS coupes. With production slated for 300 cars per year, that’s the next five years of production already on order.

Ulrich Bez, boss of Aston Martin, tells Autocar that production needs to be increased to keep customers happy. Everyone waiting in line for a DBS is a VIP and a five year wait could cause all but the most die-hard Aston fans to consider another car that is available right now.

It’s not a secret the Aston Martin Rapide will go on sale to rival the upcoming Porsche Panamera, but production details are still up in the air. It was announced earlier this year that Rapide would be built in the Gaydon facility and 1000-2000 units would be produced each year. But with such strong demand for the DBS, Aston may be forced to outsource the Rapide’s production.

Out source the production of an Aston martin! are they mad!...an Aston is only and Aston if it is built in the factory at Gaydon...OMG!

Funny, since Aston just closed its Newport Pagnell assembly plant. The facility will now serve for restoration services. I like the DBS (and loved Casino Royale)--congrats to that, Bez.

That the brand Ford choose not to keep. One would expect some foresight in people who manage Ford, then again I am contradicting myself: would they be in pickle they are now if they did have scruples?

I you get my point with this Statement. Ford had to sell something that was worth buying. In the end Aston was it.

I heard that Ford still owns a small share of Aston. Does anyone know if that true.

Congrats to Aston. Keep-up the Good Work.

Rex:

Ford Motor does own a small percentage of Aston stock. Don't hold me to this, but I think it's around 10%.
