Spied! 2010 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible
Just when you thought the Camaro madness was about to die down, resourceful Chevy fans at Camaro5.com have come through again with some more sneaky handiwork.
This time the fan site has posted pictures of a completely undisguised Camaro convertible, with the top down and everything. The roofless pony car is a natural extension of the coupe, though lifting the lid has a bit of a lengthening effect, somewhat negating the standard car’s aggressive lines.
With the luxury of four seats, and the advantage of being box-fresh, we don’t doubt that if the price is in line with Ford’s Mustang, Chevy will be able to sell a boatload of these ragtop Camaros. Tell us what you think of the new images, in comments.

Looks more like old shots of a clay model GM used. I'd say this is a at spy photography failure and someone will be looking for a job soon.

[...] For the second time today Camaro5.com is hot on the Camaro news tips, this time presenting images form the General Motors Accessories design studio. The related photos show a pile of Camaro adds, still in clay form, and attached to the body of a be-striped prototype. [...]

I think the Camaro will do well...for the first year. But it will be a "flash in the pan". The economy and gas prices don't help. And of course it will never have the iconic value of the Mustang. "Retro" styling is a temporary sales hit, then fizzles out (i.e. T-Bird, HHR, PT Cruiser, Beetle). Mustang has been a success at sustaining it longer, but inevitably it will have to modernize.
Wish the Detroit 3 would put more effort into building something with better mileage without suffering too much HP loss. Wouldn't a cool car be more fun if you could drive it more???

It can be done but it puts that car at a more expensive price point. People don't want to pay $40k for a Mustang and it would take that much (or more) to get a 30mpg V8 Mustang. Ford's wants to get rid of the V8 and use a twin-turbo V6 instead but is afraid that it would kill sales. I understand their concern. Quite a pickle they are in.

I would much rather get one of these over a Mustang. And it's not only because I'm a GM person over a Ford person.

For 40 years I have heard that THIS camaro is better than a Mustang.

It really depends. I've been a pony car guy, covering 1960s models to the present. The Ford Mustang existed as the more refined of the two in its classic guise. Its engine and options roster weren't as wide as the Camaro's, but the Mustang's road manners (in the small-block trim) were calm and disciplined.
By the 1970s, however, the Mustang's obesity (1971-73) and then shrunken size (1974-78) cost it in contrast to the single Camaro line that aged in he 1970s, but kept its same character from 1970 to 1981. It's fair to say the Gen III Mustang and Camaro had a tough shootout in the 1980s, but the '90s Gen IV Camaro easily outperformed the Mustang in handling, speed, and (in my books) styling. The Camaro's one flaw, by this time, was its limited trim options.
The Gen V Mustang may be the best since 1970, but it's become the target by which GM seems to have outperformed. Judging from GM's family sedans (Chevy Malibu), trucks (GMC Sierra), compacts (Saturn Astra) and full-size sedans (Pontiac G8), I think the General will have no problem spanking Ford's stallion.

Chop off the front in those pictures and look at the Fender flares - you could be looking at a Mustang... sorry - but some of the styling queues see like they are getting passed around from Eng to Eng like templates, IMHO.
Yes, Yes the front fender is shorter, but the similarities are striking -
