How sad it is to see the Aston Martin name no longer at Ford’s Irvine center. I looked forward to seeing that treasured name, a blossoming marque, as a light that Dearborn needed in its many dark times. Driving along the I-5, noticing that proud name, always brought a smile to my face from a long drive to home.
Having it gone, however, isn’t all bad. Aston Martin is free once again, experiencing a new level creativity and optimism the former Ford division hasn’t had since the 1960s. The two newest Astons, the Vantage and the DBS, are the finest works I have seen from Aston in twenty years. These are two cars I lust for. They are handsome in the true British sense, and admired on by all those who drive them.
The Callum styling direction has run its course; it’s time to make another bold step for the next generation of Astons. The Bond franchise has been resurrected in great fashion for a new era, and it’s time for Aston Martin to follow suit hand-in-hand.
I love these cars and happy to see the firm move forward.
