Charming they may be, but I never understood the collector demand for them. They are better than their contemporary Triumphs and MGs, but the 3000s were no E-types--though auction sellers treat them as if they were. I thought their $30,000 prices were ridiculous three years ago. I shudder at the $40,000 and $50,000 they go for now.

True Enough DM.
I attended an auction at Amelia Island a few years ago and 4 E-types went unsold, with the most desirable Series 1 example running up to the low-60s. Oddly enough 3 big Healey's went across the block and all sold, all above $60k... one even fetched over eighty-grand. Go figure.

Unlike the Triumph, the Jaguar, or the MGA, I think one can say that "My Healey got back."
Other than that? I'd rather have an E-type or MGA.

I never liked the E-Type - the hood is too flat compared to its exquisite forebears, the tires too inset, the turning circle a joke, too skinny, and too long. In short it looks like a giant penis. To each their own, but I prefer my car sculpture to be inspired by the shapes of women. I think they're all overpriced, but I'd pay more for the Healey unless the Jag was rebodied to look like an XKSS. I do like the S1 E-Type convertible's rear fenders and taillights.

No matter what badge the vehicle bore, they were all made in GB by militant, Marxists, trade unionists armed with Whitworth spanners and sabotaged with Lucas electrics! The only ones I ever knew that would "get back" had Chevy SB conversions.
