We hope our friends at Hidden Image have some extra-thick parkas, because we’re getting the chills just looking at this Porsche Boxster mule.

Caught testing in wintry Sweden and on the road near Stuttgart, it would appear that Porsche’s enchanting roadster is set to receive some styling tweaks in time for 2008. Of note, the car receives a revamped front bumper fascia incorporating LED daytime running lamps and rounded-off air intakes. From these photos, it’s unclear whether the car will receive new headlamps, but given that they’re disguised here, it’s a reasonably safe bet. Out back, there’s a new rear bumper cap, as well as new taillamps incorporating LED lighting.

Sadly, mums the word on any drivetrain or interior updates, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated as we learn more.

Sooner than expected we can show you pictures of the face lifted version of Porsche’s Boxster during winter testing in northern Scandinavia and on the road near Stuttgart. Already once the Boxster underwent a restyling in 2004, so the new one can be expected in 2008.

The car will then get a new front bumper with LED daylight driving lights as well as re-designed and much rounder air intakes. The headlamps are disguised too, so we guess that they also will get a new shape. Furthermore a new rear bumper and completely new taillights with LED are included in this major restyling. Technical improvements are for now still unknown as are changes to the interior.

The photos are showing a test car at night on wintry roads in Sweden and one clear photo of a rear view, this one also with the upcoming new taillights and the new bumper and spoiler.

[…] Porsche may be the most disciplined automaker on the planet. For decades, their vehicles have slowly evolved, with subtle styling changes and incremental boosts in power. The 2008 Boxster appears to carry on that tradition quite nicely. Styling modifications have been minimal, with updates to the front fascia and LED headlamps. The front air intakes are now more rounded, making it look less like a squished Cayenne. Out back the bumper is updated and LED lighting fills the tail lamps. No word as of yet with regards to powertrain or interior updates. We can, however, assume that the new Boxter will drive like a gem, make heads turn, and keep many from attaining a blemish-free driving record. […]

[…] Spy shooters have captured the next Porsche 911 looking remarkably undisguised. Expected in 2009, this Carrera S model points to another patently Porsche methodical evolution, this time showing new four-element high-intensity discharge headlamps, more prominent air intakes that hold the turn signals, and revamped lower aerodynamics. Out back, there are a set of new exhaust pipes, and LED taillights (not wholly unlike the units we showed you on the 2008 Boxster prototype we showed you last week). […]

The 2008 Boxster does not have the new features you predicted above. What happened?
