It’s Friday afternoon which means that it’s time for everyone’s new favorite department at WINDING ROAD News, Ask It.

Up today is a really special and ridiculously expensive subject, the 2009 Bentley Brooklands. At roughly $367,000 and shinier than the Hope Diamond, the Brooklands certainly doesn’t lack for features to inquire about; just don’t ask us to wind it out on the local dirt track, we like our jobs too much.

What does your heart desire to know about Bentley’s massive coupe? Submit your questions, in comments.

I will ask the obvious: if you had $400k, would you buy this car? Is it worth it? And, really, is it worth 2 times the price of the Conti GT Speed?

Two questions:

On the crowd-attraction scale where does it rate vs other cars you’ve had on hand?

Does the torque feel bottomless, or in the modern era is it getting a bit passe given all the weight involved?

Kind of along the lines of what lain asked, but can you see where the money went, if you had to build this thing yourself? Does it have the skins of endangered animals on every surface, or are you buying a name? And will it do a burnout, because that would be kind of fun. I didn’t say anything about a dirt track.

How many ping pong balls can you fit in the trunk?

How do people look at you in that car?

Are there any things that you take for granted in common vehicles that are not available in this one? Whether it’s the ability to make a U-turn without using six lanes, or perhaps it’s a cup holder. Just curious what you cannot do with a Bentley Brooklands that you might be able to do in a Honda Civic.

How many dead hookers would an executive be able to put in the trunk if one had to do so?

I realize that it is a Bentley and all. The wow factor of arriving in a Bentley aside and given the choice of the elite, luxury 2+2 coupes, is it really worth twice as much as a MB CL65 AMG or four times as much as a BMW M6? I guess along the sames lines as the others, if you had that type of money, is the Bentley a car that you would ultimately pull the trigger on and buy?

And also, ditto on the ping pong balls in the trunk question.

When you drive something this luxurious, do you ever acquire an air of presumptuousness and arrogance — the sense that all the Kias and Hyundais around you are just far more pedestrian?

Mena April 25th, 2008 10:20 PM Link

I’d rather have the CL65.

So, how much leg room is there in this car for someone riding shotgun? It seems to me that if your car is this huge, you’d want a lot of room between your knees and the dashboard. Sort of a strange question, I guess, but I am curious to see how this compares to something more normal. Oh, and how does that space compare to if you have someone in the backseat as well? Thanks guys.

What is the most over-the-top feature on this car? By that I mean which feature is so unnecessary that it has to be on this car?

Who owns the car, and is he single?
