I wonder if this engine will be a Rolls attempt at fuel saving and low emissions, a twin turbo V8 maybe?
Though Rolls-Royce didn’t have any new vehicles to place on its stand at the Detroit Auto Show this year, company Chairman and Chief Executive Ian Robertson did have some exciting news.
Anderson confirmed that the company will be expanding its lineup with a new model series code-named “RR4,” and there will be a wholly new engine to power it.

Though the Chairman wouldn’t give any specifics on the new powerplant, he did characterize it as being “a further substantial advance” on the Phantom engine, which is in Robertson’s words, “the most efficient car in the superluxury segment.”
Of the RR4, Robert said that the new car should be launching in 2010, mentioning that the engineering stage of development is “well underway.” He mentioned test-driving an early version of the RR4, saying that the car is an “outstanding product,” and more importantly, “an authentic Rolls-Royce.”

I wonder if this Rolls will be attractive. But fuel-efficiency and good looks aren’t Rolls traits.
Really, no Rolls owner gives a crap about fuel efficiency. Rolls are all about excess.
But considering the fact the the EU and the USA want better fuel efficiency I would assume that Rolls would want to comply with the law
Rolls about excess? If offering luxury to a high degree without having extremely angular lines and yellow paintjobs with ridiculous exhaust notes is excess, I’d hate to see Mena’s characterization of Lamborghini.
Hope to see that car be more modern.
Their model range is lacking a sedan to drive and not the one to be driven in, as the Phantom now is. A new Silver Cloud would be fantastic… not that I’m ever goint to buy one, but it would be nice to see it in pictures. And I hope that by “an authentic Rolls-Royce” they mean an elegant car that is not appealing to hip-hop stars
