Wiesmann Coupe Prototype In Autobahn Crack-Up
Written By: Chris Paukert

A rare Wiesmann prototype (‘eck, what Wieser isn’t?) reportedly spun and crashed on the autobahn in Germany. Rumored to cost in the neighborhood of $250,000, the teardrop-shaped coupe apparently lost control at high speed, clipping a center barrier and hitting a truck. Fortunately, the driver escaped injury. No word on how (or if) the loss of the prototype will effect the automaker’s ambitious plans, but we’re still hoping to see these retro-steeped sports cars on American soil soon.
We drove a Wiesmann GT prototype early this year, and found the BMW-engined coupe to be a capable little low-slung piece. Click here to read our complete road test.
