Volkswagen IROC Rolls Out In Paris

Volkswagen has unveiled its screaming green monster, the IROC Concept. It’s an attractive hot hatch that strikes us as a good fit for a next-generation GTI, rather than a proper Scirocco successor. In point of fact, it looks more like a latter-day Corrado–itself a replacement for the Scirocco.

The scIROCco Concept with its TSI twin-charger with DSG gearbox setup is widely considered to be production-bound.
As good looking as it is, we can’t help but wonder why Volkswagen needs another vehicle whose aesthetics and market space intrude so closely on the Audi A3 and aforementioned GTI.

Us? If Volkswagen’s planning on adding a sports car to its lineup, we’d suggest more “hot,” and less “hatch.”
