This week’s Ask It subject may be a bit more pedestrian than its counterparts so far, but that certainly doesn’t mean there’s not a whole lot to love about the 2009 Subaru Forester.  The versatile, manual-transmission equipped Subie is already finding fast fans amongst the WINDING ROAD staff, and is ready and willing to man-up under the best questions you can throw at it. Throw out your best Forester question, in comments.

How many lesbians does it hold?

I really like my 2004 Legacy wagon, so I’d be curious to know how the Forester compares to the Legacy:
* which holds more?
* does the Forester have any increased ground clearance?
* how does body roll compare?

Personally, I much prefer the look of a lower, longer wagon to a bulby CUV/SUV, but I realize ’station wagon’ used to have a bad name… It seems like those tables are turning, so I wonder how that will impact the Legacy vs Forester sales.

(And by the way, you have an extra ‘r’ in the name… It it Forester, not Forrrrrester )

Besides AWD, what are the comparable differences between this Forester and a comparable Toyota or Honda (which I guess would be RAV4 or CR-V)?

How does the staff feel about the excessive tire/road noise?
It must be many DB louder than my Murano on a concrete highway. At least it seemed that way driving my sister in law’s car.

“How many lesbians does it hold?”

Laughed my ass off! It’s so true.

It’s looking pretty good though. The restyling is way better than what they did to the WRX/STI.

If anybody could make a worthy competitor to the BMW 1-series, it’s Subaru. They’ve already got the platform, and it could be a spankin’ all-wheel drive competitor.

If Subaru doesn’t do it…we should all quit our day jobs.

Do you feel that the Forester could make any (insert SUV of choice here) owner happy? I know it can be taken off road, but do you feel invincible offroad as you would in a SUV such as a jeep or a truck, or does the lower seat height make you drive a little more cautiously? Does it inspire confidence?

@ WC, i can answer your question. it all depends whether i am between these hot lesbians. if i am around, it is gonna an infinitive number, you know most girls turn lesbians due to the wrong experience. and i have the magic to turn lesbians straight.
but if i am not around, the number goes to 0 lesbian.

ok for a real question.
looking at the competition that are way better looking. would you get this over CUV like the acadia, or CX7. in other words, if i wanna buy a CUV what will make me choose this over the competition knowing the design is really bad.

The Forester shares its platform with the Impreza. I’d be curious as to how they differ from each other. I haven’t checked lately, but several years ago they had identical wheelbase and track widths. Does the Forester have more ground clearance than the Impreza? I’ve always thought of them as different skins on the same skeleton.

How many ping pong balls can you fit in the trunk?

I’ll keep asking the same question until you do it.

Does your model have the Incline Start Assist? Do you find it easy to use? Is it helpful?

CAFE May 3rd, 2008 4:31 PM Link

All manual transmission Foresters and Imprezas have hill assist now. The VDC just holds on brakes for you for about a second so the car doesn’t roll back. It works like a charm.

i’m interested in the ease of access factors: getting into and out of the car; how many wheelchairs can it hold with back seats up, let alone, lesbians. lol.

Reilly May 4th, 2008 1:22 PM Link

Blake — the answer is zero. There is no trunk in the Forester.

Blake May 4th, 2008 5:10 PM Link

Trunk, cargo area, whatever. It would have been easier for them to test on the Bently, but they wouldn’t do it.

Now as punishment they have to do it in the Forester.
