Spy Shots: 2007 GM Zeta Platform: Holden VE Commodore

vecommodore.gif

Winding Road friend Willy Hopkins sent us to this link, showing the new Holden VE Commodore, which might be of little interest to North American car enthusiasts, except for two key reasons:

1. The car looks great.
2. It's built on GM's Zeta platform, which is further evidence that GM's medium-to-full size rear-wheel drive products are coming (this platform should be the basis of the next Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Monte Carlo, as well as Buick and Pontiac sedans, if insider sources are correct).

The hot Aussie is expected to find power from a 6.0-liter V-8, apparently with displacement on demand.

That photo is of interest to auto enthusiasts in the Gulf. The Holden Commodore is sold here as the Chevy Lumina and has been a sales success since its introduction in 1998. The Holden Caprice is also sold as the Chevy Caprice. I knew the Lumina was due for a makeover and was looking for spyshots. Thank you Willy Hopkins and Winding Road.

I live in australia and i can tell you some details.
1. The VE SS will have a 270kw (362hp) L76 gm powerplant
2. It comes out in August
3. There is a possibility that Holden will make a TTV6 for the VE to compete with the Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo
4. If you really want to get nasty, you can send this amazing vehicle into Australia's own tuning company (CAPA Performance) and gain around 1000kw (1340hp)

This vehicle is really something!!

Some motoring journalists from Middle East have already tested the car at Lang Lang at least six weeks ago.

Due to an official embargo till 01 Nov, we cannot reveal the details.

What we can reveal, this car is a stunner and has great potential as a result of its extremely competent packaging!!
