Good for them, just as long as they up the power from the 90 hp it gets now it it should sell well for GM, as it gets great fuel economy, now if only we could get those smal diesels they have in Europe…………..
General Motors Looks to Add Small Turbo Engines

Looking to make quick and substantial gains in fuel economy, General Motors has plans to start using smaller displacement engines equipped with turbochargers.
GM has said that it will introduce a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine as soon as next year, which could find its way into Chevrolet’s Cobalt, or Saturn’s (nee Opel’s) Astra compact hatchback.
Chevrolet’s Aveo currently has the smallest displacement engine in the GM lineup, at 1.6-liters, while the Saturn Astra currently rocks a 1.8-liter motor.
Jim Queen of GM engineering has confirmed the company’s plan to use the 1.4-liter turbo, saying it could find its way into mid-size vehicles as well.
Said Queen, “You’re going to see turbocharged four-cylinders in vehicles that no one could have ever imagined that they would be in.”

Volkswagen has a 1.4 turbo Passat in Europe.
It has an European rating of 36 mpg (US), while the 2.0 turbo gets 27 mpg (US) in the Euro rating.

This is awesome! Turbo’s for everyone!! Expect to see the aftermarket blossom for otherwise mundane cars. I don’t think getting more than 90hp will be a problem.

The 2012 Hummer H2, with Quadra-Drive! Four-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, four turbochargers, four 4-cylinder engines (one for each wheel)!
