The product of aeronautical engineer Dave Petersen’s vision of a recreational vehicle, the Ultravan was a forward-looking product of the late sixties and early seventies. While most of the aluminum monocoque RV’s were powered by the versatile Corvair engine, just a handful got sporting Corvette power.

The Ultravan Corvettes sported small-block Chevy 307 cubic-inch V-8’s, and had power to weight advantages that couldn’t be found in any other RV’s of the day. The camper also sported disc brakes, and the Corvette’s independent rear suspension, giving it a much more car-like ride.

This particular Ultravan has got a lot of potential for restoration, but will certainly take all the efforts of a dedicated fan. The van is in a fairly sad state of repair these days, with the nearly 40-year-old interior looking especially moldy.

Because nothing screams “I’m a registered sex offender” like a moldy old RV.

Eeeuuugh… nasty! That looks like chewing tobacco on the back of the driver’s seat. It’s sad to think that at one time this was one of the ultimate RVs.
