GM Could Make More Hybrids - Say, the H2?

General Motors could introduce a two-mode hybrid Hummer H2, soon, according to AutoblogGreen. Basically, the H2 shares the same platform with the Yukon and Tahoe – which are already hybrids. The H2 is hybrid-ready and a decision from corporate heads is all the model needs to go green.
Platform sharing means that many of its models could easily go to a two-mode hybrid. Shanghai GM already announced the Buick LaCrosse hybrid set to debut this August at the Beijing Olympics – which inevitably should see a U.S. introduction. The Saturn Aura features a hybrid, which shares a platform with the Cadillac BLS and Pontiac G6. The list goes on.

There are rumors of a GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook hybrid – which GM denies. However, GM has said it will increase to eight hybrids by the end of 2008, so there’s some more coming. Which models will go hybrid is still speculation.
Obviously, GM won’t look to making a hybrid for every one of its vehicles anytime soon, but the option is available.
What GM model would you like to see in a hybrid?

How about a Suburban Hybrid? If Tahoe has been engineered to be a Hybrid how hard would it be to get it done!

Bruce, I think it is already available. A friend of mine is already driving a full size Chevy pick up hybrid.

I wouldn't hold your breath for an H2 or any HUMMER hybrid. The H2 is based off the previous gen GMT800 platform. The new full size two mode hybrids are all based on GMT900. The H2 is getting the 4.5L diesel next year.
The eight that will be out by the end of this year are Saturn Aura, Vue and Chevy Malibu mild hybrids. Also the Tahoe, Yukon, Escalade, Silverado and Vue all with Two-mode hybrid.

@Sam- the GM two-mode hybrid system is contained in the transmission, and the GMT820 Tahoe, GMT921 Tahoe, and the Hummer H2 all have the same transmission. it probably wouldn't be very hard to fit the system to any of GM's fullsize trucks...

Why not just put the H2 in the trash where it belongs?
