SEMA: Jeep Wrangler in Two Flavors

Jeep showed off two interesting Wrangler variants on their SEMA stand this year, a skateboard-toting mobile gaming station, and a back-to-basics trucklette built to tote items of all stripes.

The Tony Hawk Wrangler, none too subtly decked out (literally) with skateboarding paraphernalia, allows show goers to try their hand at Mr. Hawk’s Xbox 360 game that’s stashed in the rear doors. Decks aside, the Wrangler looks awfully tough with matte paint, and massive red-lipped, blacked out wheels.

Another SEMA Jeep takes a more utilitarian form of modification; the Wrangler JT adds the kind of short truck bed that Wrangler owners have wanted for decades. Looking stripped and military-like with a desert sand finish and full-size spare hanging out back, the JT recalls an era in which the Jeep name became legend.

No one will remember the Tony Hawk Wrangler after the show, but everyone will remember, and want, a production JT. Shades of the old Commanche, the JT is compact in an era where Tacos and Frontiers are the size of T100s, and rugged with back to basics appeal, the JT woudld be a hit if built. Throw in the diesel and snorkel on the military only J8, and its a surefire market success.

I’m getting tired of Jeep throwing these awesome truck concepts at us. Remember the Gladiator? I sure do. You’re acting like the token attractive woman who dresses just a little too provocatively at work, but you can’t look at because you know she’ll slap you with a harassment suit. What’s that all about? You’re just being a tease.
Shut up or put out, Jeep. Preferrably the latter…

Memo to Jeep:

Build the JT!

I am currently looking for an LJ (TJ Unlimited) - don’t really care for the JK, but if the JT were avalable, I would be at the dealership tomorrow.
