California-based specialty tuner Newport Convertible Engineering has been retrofitting hard top cars into the convertibles of customer dreams for 24 years. The company seems to have a “no job too big” philosophy, as its website gallery features project convertibles that range from full size SUVs, to American sedans, to sports cars.

Unfortunately, the site also seems to show a number of exercises in photochopping that just don’t belong. Certainly unneeded for a company that really seems to have a pretty solid portfolio.

NCE seems to have a real passion for chopping Cadillacs in particular, showing polished transformations of CTS, DTS, and Escalade models. There are also a number of Hummer drop tops to consider, as well as a nicely finished Toyota FJ Cruiser.

There are a few cars here that seem a bit worse for the loss of their roof, not the least of which is the older BMW 7-series that can be found in our gallery. To be fair, it’s a tough enough job just to retrofit a convertible kit that will be watertight to an existing car, to say nothing of making it look good.

For the most part, our hats are off to the work of NCE, but what do you think? Tell us which ride you’d bring to the tuners in comments.
