Coolest Base Camp Ever: EarthRoamer’s XV-JP

Specialty automotive outfitter EarthRoamer has just introduced its XV-JP, and we want one in the worst way.

Essentially a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon outfitted for end-of-the-world base camp duty, the XV-JP is fitted with all manner of self-sustaining camping apparatuses, including interchangeable skins (all-season, extreme cold weather, and high temperature radiant barrier), a cassette toilet, solar power with battery backup, engine-heated hot water tank, uprated suspension, winch, and so on. Lest we forget, there’s also the cantilevered Loftop, a motorized expandable living space that includes a queen-size bed and a tent/screen room. You’ve doubtlessly noted that the latter nicely integrates a full complement of off-road lighting.

We haven’t had the opportunity to drive one of these survivalist machines, but with their Laura Croft-meets-Volkswagen Westphalia sex appeal and utility, well, we’d probably shake the piggy bank pretty hard to park one of these outside of our Quonset hut. Then again, with a base price in the six-figure range, we’d probably have to crack the poor swine storage unit wide open--and sell off our current digs, too.

no diesel, no deal

I like it. Needs a diesel engine though. Better torque for off-roading.

and to run on vegetable oil, so can stay far away from gas stations!! also, far less flamable than gas!

That is the perfect base vehicle for photographic expeditions. I think my photographic budget just took a hit.

[...] I came across this Toyota 4×4 with a Flip-Pac shell over a year ago. I had reason to revisit it because of a post on Winding Road. That Jeep is cool, but damn - six figures? [...]

The perfect vehicle for the approaching zombie apocalypse.

André

A diesel engine would make this thing perfect.

Wow, way to be obtuse. Do you get paid by the word?

Basically advertising a 6-figure vehicle and there are no pics of the interior. I think anyone shelling out that kinda money wants to see what they will be getting!
